International Donors’ Conference for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia affected by floods

16 July 2014 an International Donors’ Conference for people affected by the May floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia took place in Brussels. Organised under the auspices of the European Commission, the Governments of Slovenia and France, the Conference became another milestone in international efforts aimed at coordinating material and financial assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia which suffered damage caused by catastrophic floods estimated at about 3 billion Euro.

During the session of statements by donor countries the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Ambassador Vladimir Chizhov described humanitarian assistance for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia provided by EMERCOM of Russia within the framework of elimination of the disaster aftermath in May 2014. He also pointed out the importance of turning the Russian – Serbian Humanitarian Centre in the city of Niš into a regional mechanism of emergency response.
