The 13th European Russian Forum was held on 8–9 December 2019 in the European Parliament in Brussels. This annual event is organised since 2007 by the President of EU Russian-speakers Alliance, Member of the European Parliament from Latvia Tatjana Ždanoka. This year it was focused on the issue of Russian identity abroad.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent a message of greetings to the Forum participants. Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov, Members of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Members of the European Parliament as well as representatives of Russian and Western think tanks, civil society and media traditionally participated in the event.
A European Russian Youth Forum also took place in parallel with the main event and brought together representatives of a range of compatriots’ organisations in European Union Member States.
