Russia-EU Expert Consultations on Drugs

Russia-EU expert consultations on drugs were held on 8 October 2015 in Brussels. The Russian interagency delegation was led by Alexey A.Rogov, Deputy Director of the Department on New Challenges and Threats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The EU delegation was headed by Ambassador Camille Weis in charge of international drug policy, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Respective drug policies, preparations for the UN General Assembly Special Session on world drug problems (April 2016), drug situation in Russia and EU Member States, new psychoactive substances and narcotics of Afghan origin were discussed during the consultations. The consultations reaffirmed closeness of the parties’ approaches towards main issues of combating drug trafficking.
