On 9 November a meeting between the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, and Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif, took place in Geneva with participation of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs & Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton.

The ministers exchanged views on the ongoing round of negotiations between E3 +3 and Iran in Geneva. They also discussed existing problematic elements in the positions of the parties involved in the process. A substantial and productive dialogue took place on prospects of further promotion of the talks, including the possibility of reaching initial concrete arrangements.
