Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Ryabkov participates in the meeting of E3+3 Political Directors

On 16 July a coordinating meeting of Political Directors of the E3+3 group of international mediators on the Iranian nuclear programme (China, France, Germany, Russia, UK and US) took place in Brussels, chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton. Russia was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Ryabkov. 

At the meeting the commitment of all parties was reaffirmed to further seek a comprehensive political and diplomatic settlement on the Iranian nuclear programme based on the principles of a phased approach and reciprocity, taking into account statements by Iran’s President-elect, Hassan Rouhani. Participants stressed their interest in holding the next full-fledged round of Iran – E3+3 negotiations in the near future, as soon as the Iranian side is ready for that. 

On the margins of the meeting Mr. Ryabkov had a separate conversation with Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman on topical issues of the international and bilateral agendas.
