Russian MFA Summons Head of EU Delegation to Russia

On 21 June 2022 the Head of EU Delegation to Russia Ambassador Markus Ederer was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The EU representative was presented with a strong protest against the extension of unilateral anti-Russian restrictions on cargo transit between the Kaliningrad region and mainland Russia. It was pointed out that such actions are inadmissible as violating relevant legal and political obligations of the European Union and leading to an escalation of tensions.

The Russian side demanded that normal operation of Kaliningrad transit be restored immediately. Otherwise, retaliatory measures will follow.
