Judicial cooperation

Judicial cooperation between Russia and the EU is carried out mainly on criminal, civil and commercial matters. Judicial cooperation on criminal matters is performed through bilateral contacts between the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation and competent authorities of EU Member States. Russia is also cooperating with Eurojust, an EU specialised agency assisting national authorities in investigation and prosecution of transnational crimes. Russia and Eurojust have launched negotiations on a draft cooperation agreement. The latest round of negotiations took place in The Hague on 27–28 January 2014.

In March 2014 Eurojust took a unilateral decision to temporarily suspend the negotiations as part of a package of restrictive measures against Russia adopted in the EU in connection with events in Ukraine.
