Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko meets EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer

On 29 January 2020 Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko met with Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation Markus Ederer.

Markus Ederer officially informed Alexander Grushko about the upcoming withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, including about the modalities of the transition period in UK –  EU relations that starts on 1 February 2020.

Russia’s representative noted that consequences of Brexit will be carefully studied in terms of their impact on Russia-EU and Russia-UK relations and given the need for adapting the contractual and legal framework of these relations.

The officials also discussed some other aspects of Russia – EU relations.
