Vladimir Putin congratulated Ursula von der Leyen on assuming the office of President of the European Commission.

Both sides noted that, despite the current difficult period regarding relations between Russia and the European Union, it was in the long-term interest of both sides to find common points on the key topics on the European and international agenda as well as to develop a direct dialogue.

Issues related to the top-level meeting in the Normandy format, scheduled to take place in Paris on December 9, were also discussed.

The officials stressed the importance of consistently implementing the Minsk Agreements in this context.
