State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin meets with EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian

On 27 June 2019 State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin received EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian.

During the meeting the parties discussed the situation in Central Asia and exchanged views on the prospects of developing Russia and EU relations with countries of the region. Peter Burian outlined the main points of the recently approved EU Strategy “The EU and Central Asia: new opportunities for a stronger partnership”.

On the Russian side the importance of a careful and respectful attitude towards the realities that exist in Central Asia, including the rapidly evolving process of Eurasian integration, was stressed. The Russian side expressed its readiness to search for common areas with the European Union in the region.
