Ambassador Vladimir Chizhov meets Members of the Committee on International Trade of the European Parliament

On 27 June 2012, upon the invitation of the Committee on International Trade (INTA) of the European Parliament, Ambassador Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of Russia to the European Union, met with INTA Members in Brussels for an informal exchange of views on the draft trade and investment section of the future Russia-EU New Basic Agreement (NBA).

During the meeting MEPs were informed of the Russian position on key aspects of the respective section of the NBA in light of the progressing integration process between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Several other issues of trade and economic relations between Russia and the EU were also touched upon, particularly with regard to the accession of the Russian Federation to WTO. Upon their request the organizers of the meeting were given an outline of Russian views on the EU “Third Energy Package”.
