Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin meets EU Special Representative for Central Asia Pierre Morel

On 9 February Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs/State Secretary Grigory Karasin received European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Pierre Morel.

Various aspects of the situation in Central Asia were discussed at the meeting. Particular attention was paid to combating terrorism, extremism and drug-trafficking as well as promoting sustainable development of Central Asian states. In this context issues of coordinating Russian and EU efforts were touched upon with a view to strengthening security and stability in the region.
