Russian and EU experts hold consultations on information and communication technologies

On 30 November experts from the Russian Federation and the European Union took part in a regular video-conference to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the area of information and communication technologies (ICT). The event was co-chaired by Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Romanov and Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission David Ringrose.

The agenda covered spectrum coordination with focus on 700 MHz, approaches of the Russian Federation and the EU to “big data” and personal data protection, as well as prospects of cooperation between Russian and EU educational and academic institutions in the ICT sphere, including in the context of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation “Horizon 2020”.

The next expert conference is planned for 2018.
