A Russia-EU PPC meeting to take place in Warsaw


The 15th meeting of the Russia-EU Permanent Partnership Council on Freedom, Security and Justice will be held in Warsaw on 10 and 11 October 2011. The Russian delegation will be headed by Mr. A.Konovalov, Special Envoy of the President, Minister of Justice of Russia.

Issues on top of the agenda will be visa dialogue, migration, fight against organized crime and illicit drugs.

The Parties are expected to adopt the Work Plan of the Dialogue on Migration for 2011-2012, to consider the agreed text of the list of Common Steps towards Visa Free Short-Term Travel of Russian and EU Citizens and progress in negotiations on amendments to the 2006 Russia-EU visa facilitation agreement. The work on agreements on drug precursors and Russia-Europol cooperation will also be under discussion.

The format of PPC on Freedom, Security and Justice is in place since 2004. Meetings take place in turn in Russia and EU at the level of Justice and Interior Ministers of Russia, current and future EU Presidencies, as well as relevant EU Commissioners and heads of EU agencies.

The previous PPC meeting took place on 19 May 2011 in St.Petersburg.
