On 12 May State Secretary – Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin met EEAS Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Helga Schmid who was in Moscow to take part in Russia-EU Political Directors consultations.

A detailed exchange of views took place on the situation in Ukraine. The Russian side urged the EU to press Ukrainian authorities to implement the Minsk Agreements.

The situation in the South Caucasus and political developments in Moldova were also discussed, as were prospects for a Transnistrian settlement.
