Third Joint seminar of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and of the European Economic and Social Committee

The Third Joint seminar of the Civic Chamber of The Russian Federation and of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) “Civil society contribution to EU-Russia relations” was held in Moscow on 28-29 June 2010.
Participants of the meeting analyzed in detail the current state of Russia-EU relations, the negotiating process on the new basic Russia-EU agreement and formulated some considerations concerning the enhancement of involvement of civil society in realization of the future document. Civic Chamber and EESC representatives expressed their support to “The Partnership for Modernization” that has equal value for both sides and should become leitmotif of Russia-EU interaction for the nearest future. Among the ultimate priorities of the Partnership the adoption of visa-free regime was named.
EESC leaders were received by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation A.Zhukov. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.Lavrov sent the message of greetings to the participants of the seminar.
