The 9th round of negotiations on the new basic agreement between Russia and the EU

Russia and the EU take now the 9th round of negotiations on the New basic Agreement (NBA). Specific articles of each chapter of NBA are discussed within corresponding working groups. The Parties have already held working groups’ meetings on three chapters, i.e. on first (external security) - on April 29, 2010, on third (economic) – on May 5-6 2010, on forth (science and technology, education, culture and youth) – on April 28, 2010. Working group on second chapter (issues of freedom, security and justice) will be held on May 12, 2010.
On the whole, the process of negotiations is proceeding successfully, there is a sound progress on a number of provisions of NBA.
The results of the 9th negotiations round will be summarized at the meeting of the Steering group at the level of the Heads of Delegations on May 19, 2010.
