Foreign Ministry statement on the implementation of the Minsk agreements on a settlement in Ukraine

We reaffirm our high assessment of the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements adopted on February 12.

Russia is willing to help implement these agreements.

At the same time, we are seriously alarmed by the fact that official representatives of Ukraine, notably Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin, and of some Western countries, in particular the United States, have actually supported radical nationalists in the Verkhovna Rada and are distorting the essence of the Minsk agreements, placing in question the implementation of specific provisions of the documents that have been approved by the leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine.

The latest statements made by Ukrainian politicians in Kiev are alarming, considering that Donetsk and Lugansk representatives have been expressing a responsible attitude towards implementing their commitments.

We have to reassert that the main goal of the Minsk agreements is to end the hostilities, pull out the heavy weaponry and initiate real constitutional reform in Ukraine.

We hope that all signatories of the February 12 Minsk agreements and all parties that supported the Minsk process, including Germany and France, will do everything in their power to ensure the faithful implementation of these agreements.

We once again urge the sides in the Ukrainian conflict to strictly comply with their commitments.
