Delegation from European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction visits Russia

On 23–24 July 2019 a delegation from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), Lisbon, headed by its director Alexis Goosdeel visited Moscow.

During the visit meetings were held with Police Lieutenant-General Andrey Khrapov, Chief of the General Directorate for Drug Control of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation, and Dmitry Kostennikov, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.

The parties exchanged views on topical problems related to drug trafficking in Russia and the EU, discussed issues of controlling new psychoactive substances and countering the spread of drugs through Internet. Representatives of Russian authorities and EMCDDA noted similarity of approaches to drug problems and expressed their intention to develop further cooperation.

The EMCDDA delegation also visited the Moscow Scientific and Practical Centre of Narcology of the Moscow city Department of Healthcare.
