On 13 January, a traditional meeting took place in Moscow between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the ambassadors of 28 European Union member states, including the head of the EU Delegation to Russia.

While reaffirming Russia’s commitment to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU, Sergey Lavrov drew the ambassadors’ attention to the need for a systemic solution to problems in Russian-EU political and economic interaction, which have worsened as a result of the Ukrainian crisis.

He underscored the need for a swift launch of an inclusive constitutional reform process in Ukraine. The minister also highlighted the importance of observing the ceasefire and alleviating the consequences of the humanitarian catastrophe in southeastern Ukraine, in addition to ending the infringement of the rights of individual segments of Ukrainian society.

Participants at the meeting also addressed other relevant issues concerning the international community.
