On 4 September 2014 a technical Russia-EU expert meeting on gas issues took place in Brussels as a follow-up to bilateral negotiations between the Russian Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak and Vice-President of the European Commission, Günther Oettinger held on 29 August 2014 in Moscow. Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Energy, JSC Gazprom and DG Energy participated in the meeting.
Prospects were discussed of evolution of the situation in gas sectors of Ukraine and EU member states in the coming autumn and winter period with focus on peak demand periods. The parties agreed to undertake a comprehensive analysis of the information received, results to be discussed at a trilateral Russia-EU-Ukraine ministerial meeting, the date and venue of which are to be agreed.
