On May, 25 a large-scale event dedicated to presentation of the South Stream gas pipeline project was organized in Brussels. The event gathered key Russian and EU stakeholders in the field of production, transportation and consumption of gas, as well as high-level representatives of respective Russian state bodies and EU institutions.
Keynote speeches were given by Sergey Shmatko, Russian Minister of Energy, Gunther Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Energy, Marcel Cramer, CEO of the South Stream Consortium, Alexei Miller, CEO of Gazprom, Paolo Skaroni, CEO of Eni and others.
The discussion that followed the presentation touched upon a wide range of issues related to development of gas industry in Russia and the EU.
