On 3-6 April, at the invitation of the Court of Justice of the European Union, a delegation of chair persons of regional courts of Russia led by the Deputy Director-General of the Judicial Department under the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, Alexander Parshin paid a working visit to Luxembourg.
In the course of the visit, Russian representatives had an opportunity to get acquainted in detail with specificities of the EU judicial system, separation of competences and working methods of the Court of Justice and the General Court. The delegation also attended hearings on specific cases considered by the EU Court.
In separate meetings with the President of the ECJ, Koen Lenaerts, President of the General Court, Marc Jaeger and acting judge Alexander Arabadjiev an interested and thorough exchange of views took place on streamlining judicial procedures, as well as on certain aspects of the work of judges in Russia and the EU.
Summing up the results of the visit, both sides noted the usefulness of discussions held and expressed mutual interest in continuing contacts.
