Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko in an online meeting with Member of the European Commission for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakidou

On the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation the first meeting of Minister Mikhail Murashko with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakidou took place.

During the online dialogue the Minister shared successful experience of organisation of public medical care and noted the high level of preparedness of healthcare system of the Russian Federation to provide high-quality medical assistance to all those infected with COVID-19. Importantly, methodological guidelines on patients’ treatment developed with due account of international experience are regularly updated on the basis of monitoring of information on evolution of the disease and its complications, and put into practice.

In turn, Stella Kyriakidou highlighted current initiatives of the European Commission aimed at mobilisation of international efforts and raising funds for research and development of COVID-19 diagnostic, treatment and prevention tools and called on Russia to contribute to relevant projects.

In the course of constructive dialogue the two sides exchanged information on positive experience of Russia and the EU in various fields and outlined prospective areas for developing dialogue in healthcare and R&D.

They agreed to maintain further contacts on most topical issues of cooperation, as well as to develop fruitful Russia – EU interaction at various international fora, including the World Health Organisation.
