Russian Foreign Ministry statement regarding statements by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell following his visit to Ukraine

The statement made in the social media by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, after his visit to Ukraine that “This war will be won on the battlefield” shows clearly that the European Union of the 2022 make has completely abandoned the peace-making ideals of its founding fathers, who wanted to make sure that a new war in Europe is “unthinkable and impossible.” Today, the “peaceful” European Union has pledged to increase military aid to Kiev to 1.5 billion euros.

The world can see that the EU is turning into a militarised and aggressive instrument of foreign expansion. It is waging yet another Drive to the East (Drang nach Osten) campaign, in keeping with the centuries-old “European values.” This is how the West is implementing its striving for boundless global domination over those whom it considers to be genetically inferior.

The West has turned a blind eye to and is therefore encouraging the Ukrainian nationalists to deliver direct missile attacks and stage provocations against peaceful civilians, trying to blame the Russian forces for their death. European officials have completely dismissed the fact that the April 8 attack on the railway station in Kramatorsk was delivered by Tochka U, which the Russian army does not have, from the territory controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and that the lot number on the missile shows that it was from the batch that belongs to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

At the same time, Josep Borrell and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen have supported Kiev’s cynical provocation  ̵  the massacre of civilians in Bucha. We regard this as especially detestable in the context of the numerous victims of the regular Ukrainian shelling attacks on the Donbass cities and villages. Not a single EU official has visited that region since 2014.

The EU’s hypocrisy is truly boundless: assistance to the Ukrainian nationalists, who will use it to kill civilians with impunity, is being provided via the Europe Peace Foundation. Another proof of the real values of the “civilised West” is the broad use by EU politicians of the “Slava Ukraini” greeting, which is a carbon copy of the phrase used in Nazi Germany. The EU space is being cleansed of alternative views, and unprecedented pressure is being put in the EU countries on ethnic Russians and Russian speakers to force them to forsake their ancestral homeland.

The theses on the need for a political solution and talks have disappeared from the EU vocabulary. This is understandable: a political solution will interfere with their main goal, which is to continue the proxy war to the last Ukrainian.

This EU “diplomacy” is running counter to the interests of Europeans, who need peace and stability and are against any manifestations of Nazism and discrimination on our common continent.
