Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko meets EEAS Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Enrique Mora

On 18 January 2022 Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko met with Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora to discuss the state of affairs in the CIS area.

Reviewing the situation in Ukraine, the Russian side stressed the need for the EU to use its leverage to ensure that the Kiev authorities unconditionally implement the Minsk Package of Measures on settling the internal Ukrainian conflict as well as strictly comply with international human rights obligations.

The EU side was informed of the efforts undertaken by Russia to stabilise the situation in the South Caucasus on the basis of the trilateral high-level agreements with the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia of 9 November 2020, 11 January and 26 November 2021, as well as the processes of reinforcing the Union State with Belarus.

Particular attention was given to the situation in Kazakhstan, including the role of CSTO peacekeeping forces in restoring stability in the republic.
