Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko meets EEAS Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Enrique Mora

On 18 January 2022 Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko held consultations in Moscow with Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora.

The state and prospects of Russia-EU relations, including schedule of the political dialogue, were addressed. While discussing military and political aspects of security in Europe, the Russian side outlined its proposals to establish long-term legally binding security guarantees.

Regional issues touched upon included situation in the Western Balkans, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan, as well as prospects of the Middle East Peace Process.

During an exchange of views on the internal Ukrainian conflict, the need was stressed for full and unconditional implementation of the Minsk Package of Measures, serving as the only international legal framework for its settlement. The Russian side called on the European Union to refrain from steps that would directly or indirectly encourage Kiev to sabotage the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
