Russia-EU Western Balkans (COWEB) and EU Enlargement (COELA) Consultations

Within the framework of the Russia – EU Political Dialogue expert consultations on Western Balkans (COWEB) and on EU Enlargement (COELA) were held in Brussels on November 25, 2011.

Mr. Petr A. IVANTSOV, Deputy Director of the 4th European Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, led the delegation of the Russian MFA. From the EU side the talks were conducted, respectively, by Mr. Jonas JONSSON, Head of the Western Balkans Division of the European External Action Service (EEAS), and Ms. Anna SOCHAŃSKA, Deputy Director of the European Policy Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

During the meetings an open and detailed exchange of views took place on recent developments in the Balkans (with the main focus on the situation in and around Kosovo and Bosnia), as well as in the context of the European perspective of Croatia, Turkey and Iceland.
