Russia – EU Сonsultations on Air Safety of Russian Air Carriers

On 22 October 2020 regular technical Russia-EU consultations on air safety regarding Russian airlines operating passenger and cargo flights to airports of EU Member States took place in online format. 

The Russian delegation was led by Oleg Storchevoy, Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency. The EU delegation – by Peter Bombay, Chief Adviser of the Director on Aviation of the General Directorate for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission. 

The parties discussed the results of inspections of Russian air carriers, organised in accordance with EU “Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft” (SAFA) programme. The general country ratio of the Russian Federation was recognised as one of the best among the SAFA programme participants.

Both sides reconfirmed the efficiency of interaction, in place since 2009. It is expected, that the next consultations will be held in Brussels in March 2021.
