On 25 October 2019 Brussels hosted regular Russia – EU technical consultations on air safety regarding Russian airlines operating passenger and cargo flights to airports of EU Member-States.
The Russian delegation was led by Oleg Storchevoy, Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency.
The parties discussed the results of inspections of Russian air carriers, organised in accordance with the EU programme “Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft” (SAFA). The general country ratio of the Russian Federation was recognised as one of the best among SAFA participants.
Both sides reconfirmed the efficiency of this format of interaction, which has been in place since 2009 and agreed to hold the next round of consultations in Brussels in March 2020.
