On 16 May 2011 in Brussels Ambassador Anatoly Safonov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation in the Fight against Terrorism and Transnational Organized Crime, met Gilles de Kerchove, the EU Counter-terrorism Coordinator.
A wide range of issues was discussed related to prevention of terrorist attacks in the Russian Federation and EU Member States, Russia-EU cooperation in international fora, further development of cooperation between Russian law-enforcement agencies and the EU.
Mr. de Kerchove was decorated with the medal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation “For Contribution to International Cooperation”.
