The 13th meeting of Russia-EU Joint Committee on Readmission took place on 2 July 2013 in Brussels. The Russian delegation was led by Mr. Nikolay Smorodin, Deputy Head of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation. Mr. Luigi Soreca, Head of Unit of the Directorate-General for Home Affairs of the European Commission, led the EU delegation.

The Parties noted substantial progress in the implementation of the 2006 Russia-EU Readmission Agreement and conclusion of 24 Implementing protocols to it. They discussed different aspects of readmission, including submission of readmission applications, procedure for interviews, transfer persons to be readmitted as well as possible ways to improve practical cooperation.

The Russia-EU cooperation on readmission issues is developing in line with Dialogue on migration and Visa Dialogue and represents an important element of common endeavour towards visa facilitation and visa free travel of Russian and EU citizens.

The next meeting of Russia-EU Joint Committee on Readmission will be held in Moscow in summer 2014.
