Russia-EU high-level counter-terrorism talks

On 8 February a Russian inter-ministerial delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov and a European Union delegation headed by Pedro Serrano, Deputy Secretary General for Common Security and Defence Policy and Crisis Response at the European External Action Service, held talks on international counter-terrorism cooperation in Brussels.

The parties discussed in detail different aspects of global and regional terrorist threats and shared their experience in countering terrorism in Russia and the European Union focusing on disrupting foreign terrorist fighters returning from areas of armed conflicts and preventing dissemination of terrorist and extremist ideology.

The delegations considered opportunities for expanding counter-terrorism cooperation within multilateral formats.

The officials agreed to hold the next round of talks in Moscow.
