On September 20 in New York, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took part in the meeting of E3+3 and Iranian foreign ministers on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding the settlement of the Iranian nuclear programme. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 72nd UN General Assembly, was coordinated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
Participants reviewed the latest report by IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano confirming that Iran strictly abides by its commitments under the JCPOA. This creates favourable conditions for making full use of the opportunities offered by the agreement in economic and political terms, as well as in the area of security. Sergey Lavrov stressed that Russia will continue to promote consistent implementation of the JCPOA.
