On March 13, Russian State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin received the co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in the South Caucasus – EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar and his colleagues from the UN and the OSCE.

The participants exchanged views on the security situation in the South Caucasus, on Abkhazia’s and South Ossetia’s state borders with Georgia, and on the preparations for a new round of Geneva discussions scheduled for March 27-28.

They agreed on the need for greater progress in the issue of primary importance for the region’s security – the adoption of a statement on the non-use of force – and expressed their readiness to fully contribute to this.
