On 9 October 2015 an informal meeting of the Subgroup on Pharmaceuticals of the Russia – EU Dialogue on Public Health was held in Brussels. Representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, of the Federal Service on Surveillance in Health, as well as the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the EU, took part in the event. The EU side was represented by officials of the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission, the European Medicines Agency (via video link), and the Delegation of the European Union to Russia. Cooperation in the framework of the Dialogue resumed following two years of inactivity.
In the course of the meeting the parties addressed pharmaceutical issues important for both sides: changes in EU and Russian legislation in the field of medicines circulation, exchange of experience in establishment of regional markets of pharmaceuticals, as well as organisation of operational exchange of information on medicinal products quality.
The Parties examined the issue of expanding cooperation between the Federal Service on Surveillance in Health and the European Medicines Agency. Both sides agreed that cooperation between regulating authorities will allow them to fight medicines fraud in a more effective way.
The meeting showed that both sides are interested in developing cooperation and willing to maintain a constructive dialog on health issues.
