Igor Shuvalov visits Brussels

On 30 May 2011 First Deputy Prime-Minister of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov met in Brussels with the EU Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht and Director General SANCO Paola Testori-Coggi. The Russian delegation included Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Khristenko, Minister of Agriculture Elena Skrynnik, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Andrey Slepnev, Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert, Head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko, and Head of the Russian delegation to the negotiations on Russia’s accession to the WTO, Maxim Medvedkov.

On the European Commission side representatives of DG TRADE, DG AGRI and DG SANCO took part in the meeting.

During the meeting the two parties discussed a number of outstanding issues related to Russia’s accession to the WTO, as well as preparations for the forthcoming summit between Russia and the EU to be held in June this year in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
