Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery Mr. Ilya Shestakov met EU Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Mr. Karmenu Vella on 24 April 2018 in Brussels.
Issues of cooperation between Russia and the European Union in the management of commercial fish stocks in the Baltic Sea region were discussed, including restoration of eel stock and maintenance of ecological balance in the Vistula Bay. Both sides agreed to continue addressing these issues on the basis of scientific data at the next meeting of the Joint Baltic Sea Fisheries Committee to be held this summer in Russia.
The delegation of the Russian Federal Agency for Fisheries is currently visiting Brussels to take part in the biggest international event in the sphere of fisheries and fish processing “Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global 2018”.
