On 6 July Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini in the margins of a Ministerial meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in Vienna.
The meeting focused on the current state and ways of recovering Russia-EU relations.
While discussing the international agenda, special attention was given to prospects of maintaining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the settlement of the situation around Iran's nuclear programme, as well as the situation in the Western Balkans countries, Syria and Ukraine.
Minister Lavrov stressed that relevant EU structures should show a more principled approach in their assessment of legislative steps by Latvian and Ukrainian authorities in the language and education spheres.
