Delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Parliamentary Assembly of Russia’s North-West led by the Vice-Chairperson of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Olga Epifanova took part in the Fifth Northern Dimension Parliamentary Forum on 22 November in Brussels.
The Conference Statement acknowledges the important role of the Northern Dimension policy in development of regional cooperation in the North of Europe, in particular in the framework of its four Partnerships – on Transport and Logistics, Environment, Public Health and Social Well-being and on Culture, as well as the contribution of the parliamentary track to this work.
The Northern Dimension is a multilateral initiative that includes the Russian Federation, the European Union, Norway and Iceland. It was launched in 1999 to facilitate practical regional cooperation in the field of sustainable development, including in the North-Western Region of Russia. Belarus participates in certain aspects of the cooperation. US and Canada have observer status.
