Dmitry Medvedev congratulates Ursula von der Leyen on her election as European Commission Presidentю
The Prime Minister’s message reads, in part:
“On behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation and me personally, please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as President of the European Commission.
Russia views the European Union as an important partner in trade and economic affairs, science and technology, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian spheres. I strongly believe that resuming constructive cooperation and a regular dialogue between the Government of the Russian Federation and the European Commission will help create favourable conditions for initiating new joint projects, programmes and initiatives.
I would like to confirm that Russia is ready to engage proactively with our colleagues from the European Union.”
