A telephone conversation took place on May 14 between State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin and European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Pierre Morel. The latter informed the Russian side of the main results of the meetings held during these days by the co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions on Stability and Security in Transcaucasia with the representatives of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Georgia. An exchange of views took place on some concrete matters relating to the preparation for a June meeting in Geneva.

In addition, Karasin and Morel discussed the situation in the Kyrgyz Republic, where political passions do not abate. They underscored the interest of Russia and the European Union in stabilizing the situation in Kyrgyzstan and putting it on a predictable constructive track. In this sense hopes are pinned on the actions of the Interim Government of the country.
