On cooperation between the Russian Ministry of Interior and the European Police College

On 29-31 October 2012 a conference was held in Tallinn, Estonia on enhancing cooperation between the Russian Federation and the European Police College (CEPOL).

The Russian Ministry of Interior delegation, led by Mr. A.Yudin, Deputy Director of State Service and Personnel Department, included Mr. V.Gordienko, Director of the Academy of Management, and representatives of several departments of the Ministry.

The EU was represented by Mr. F.Banfi, CEPOL Director, Mr. K.-M.Vaher, Estonian Minister of Interior, leadership of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences, experts from 18 Member States, Europol, Interpol and the European Agency for the Management of the Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union (FRONTEX).

Participants of the conference discussed in a businesslike and friendly atmosphere the state-of-play and prospects of cooperation between Russia and the EU in the area of law enforcement activities, including professional training of police personnel.

On the margins of the conference a draft Protocol on Cooperation between the Academy of Management of the Russian Ministry of Interior and CEPOL was agreed. Signing of this document will create new possibilities for further enhancement of Russia-EU cooperation in the area of professional training of law enforcement personnel.
