Reports of the tragic incident involving a passenger bus in Volnovakha, in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, in which 12 people were killed and 18 others injured, were met with great sadness in Moscow. We offer our condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wish the wounded a speedy recovery.
We are calling for a thorough and objective international investigation into this crime and for those responsible to be brought to justice.
The Volnovakha tragedy is further proof of the need for continuous efforts to promote a peaceful political solution to the Ukrainian crisis. It is unacceptable to use criminal provocations as a pretext for escalating tensions, fanning militaristic hysteria and resuming hostilities in Ukraine’s southeast, causing further loss of life and hardships for its people.
