Ambassador Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU, took part in the panel debate “Partnership for modernization: an assessment of the latest developments in EU-Russia relations” organized in the European Parliament by MEP K.Ojuland (ALDE, Estonia) on 15 September 2010.
In his presentation he emphasized that the Partnership for Modernization can become a new qualitative basis of cooperation between Russia and the EU, noted the similarity of tasks both parties face. The discussion focused on the prospects of transition to a visa-free regime between Russia and the EU, on the initiative to develop a Treaty on European Security and other topical issues.
