On 27 October 2014 Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Ambassador Vladimir Chizhov participated in the 31st International Workshop on Global Security in Paris. The discussion involving current and former members of governments, high-level officials from the EU and NATO, prominent political analysts and academics focused on the analysis of underlying reasons and ways towards settling the acute political crisis in Ukraine. In his address the Ambassador called for the use of “window of opportunity” provided by the ceasefire in Donbass to intensify negotiating efforts between Kiev and representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics in the framework of the Minsk process. He made a special emphasis on the urgent need for collective efforts by Russia and Western countries to strengthen the pan-European security architecture based on common principles of indivisibility of security, sovereign equality of states and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
