On 13-14 September, in the framework of the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Ambassador Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of Russia to the EU, held meetings with Elmar Brok, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs; Othmar Karas, Chair of the European Parliament Delegation to the Russia-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee; Knut Fleckenstein, Vice-Chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament; Jiří Maštálka, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament Delegation to the Russia-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee; as well as MEPs Tatjana Ždanoka, Cătălin Sorin Ivan and Stefano Maullu.
The meetings addressed topical issues on the global agenda, the internal Ukrainian crisis, the Syrian crisis, the political situation in Turkey. MEPs showed great interest to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Russia. They were given detailed explanations.
