The 13th session of the Russia-EU Joint Committee for the Management of the Agreement on the Facilitation of the Issuance of Visas to the Citizens

The 13th session of the Joint Committee for the Management of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the European Community on the Facilitation of the Issuance of Visas to the Citizens of the Russian Federation and the European Union took place in Brussels on 24 April 2018. The Russian delegation included representatives of the Consular Department and the European Multilateral Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Permanent Mission of Russia to the EU. Officials from the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the EU Delegation to Russia and observers of a number of EU member states participated on the EU side.

Both parties agreed that the Agreement on the Facilitation of the Issuance of Visas remains one of the key documents concluded between Russia and the EU, providing for a favourable legal regime of mutual travel by citizens of Russia and EU member states. An in-depth discussion was held on practical aspects of cooperation in the sphere of visa policy. 

It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Joint Committee in Moscow in 2019.
